One of 13 militants killed was main Shariah judge of Dagestani underground resistance

The so-called main Shariah judge of the Dagestani underground
resistance was among 13 militants killed in a counter-terrorist
operation in Dagestan on Sunday, RIA Novosti reports, citing the local
police.


10 militants were killed in Makhachkala on Sunday, three more were
killed in the village of Komsomolskoye, including the head of the
Kizilyurt resistance group, Shamil Magomednabiyev, and the brother of
the head of the village administration, the National Anti-Terrorist
Committee said.


The source reported that a Slav, who converted to Islam and joined the
group, was among the militants killed. The police did not give his
name but they said that he had previously been sentenced to one year's
imprisonment for participating in an illegal armed formation.


The source denied that any of the militants killed on Sunday were
responsible for the explosions in the Moscow subway. All the names of
the terrorists will be announced soon, he said.
