Russia calls financing of militants in Syria unacceptable

The Russian Foreign Ministry said that religious minorities were often the main target of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIS), the Al-Nusra Front and the Islamic Front. The ministry added that terrorist attacks on Sunni villages were becoming more regular, ITAR-TASS reports.

Khattab, a peaceful Sunni village in Hama Province, was attacked on July 9. 14 residents, including 7 women and a girl, were beheaded. 3 women were murdered and one died in hospital after a similar attack on the village of Taksis on July 10. The Russian ministry said that peaceful people were randomly arrested, tortured, humiliated and executed, sometimes crucified.

Russia condemns extremists in Syria and other parts of the Middle East for the crimes and hopes that the international community will act. It reiterated that financing, arming, training and providing refuge for terrorists was unacceptable.
