CSTO forces are having counter-extremist drills within the framework of the Edge-2014 training program. The drills started on Monday and will end on Friday. Armenia and Belarus are monitoring the drills, RIA Novosti reports.According to the scenario, an international extremist organization is terrorizing and recruiting new members in the local population, building camps, warehouses with ammunition, weapons and drugs. Artillery and aviation will be used during the drills, said Col. Yaroslav Roshchupkin, an assistant of the commander of forces of the Central Military District.The Roshchupkin quoted Col. Alexander Kim, an assistant of the Kyrgyz defense minister, stating that Central Asian states had been facing challenges and threats in the region for the past 15 years.
