Russian officials dismiss US sanctions

The United States has imposed additional sanctions on Russia in response to Russia's policy towards Ukraine. The new round of sanctions concerns such state-run companies as Rosneft, Gazprombank, Vneshekonombank and several others, as well as some individuals.

Russian prime minister Dmitry Medvedev underlines that the sanctions will not damage Russia's economy, but can return the world to the Cold War epoch.

"If that's our partners' aim, then it will soon be achieved," the head of the Russian cabinet said.

Russian President Vladimir Putin, who is now on an official visit to Brazil, also said that the sanctions will damage US -Russian relations and the American economy itself more than Russia
