Abkhazians living in Moscow and Cherkessk will have an opportunity to vote for the president of Abkhazia at one of the polling stations that will open in the cities. The Abkhaz parliament passed a law on parliamentary polls on July 21, allowing polling stations to open in countries that have not recognized Abkhazia as an independent state.
Abkhaz lawmakers are considering opening a polling station for a community in Turkey.
The candidates for elections on August 24 are as follows: Head of the State Security Service Aslan Bzhania, Defense Minister Mirab Kishmaria, ex-Interior Minister Leonid Dzapshba and opposition leader Raul Hajimba.
