Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said that the country needed a combat-effective army and equipment to end the conflict in the east. He thanked the parliament for passing the decree on mobilization and condemned MPs that voted against it.
The Ukrainian forces are fighting resistance in Donetsk. Igor Strelkov, the Defense Minister of the "Donetsk People's Republic" said that his troops had to leave Karlovka, Naytolovo and Pervomayskoye. They are still in control of Luhansk, Avdeyevka and Gorlovka.
