Phone scandal in Turkey: 103 people detained for two days

During the two days of conducting a raid affecting the bodies of internal affairs of Turkey, 103 people considered to be supporters of Fethullah Gulen have been arrested.

Among those detained is the former head of the Istanbul police Ercan Erchykty and the former head of the Istanbul offices of the Turkish intelligence Ali Fuat Yylmazer, Trend reports.

In February of this year Turkish media spread information that in 2011 during an anti-terrorist operation conducted by the prosecutor's office of Istanbul against the organization Salam, telephone conversations of about 7000 people associated with both the ruling and opposition parties, including President Abdullah Gul, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his family and the intelligence chief Hakan Fidan, were wiretapped.
