Chinese investors have offered an alternative to the bridge across the Kerch Strait. They found it useful to run under the strait a tunnel junction with railways and highways, says Deputy Prime Minister of Crimea Yevgenia Bavykina.
She calls the Chinese proposal very interesting. Investors explain that the project involves not only laying an underwater tunnel, but also the construction of port infrastructure solutions.
According to the estimates of the Chinese, the project will take 2.5 years. At the same time laying the tunnel will not prevent navigation in the Kerch Strait. Money for construction is supposed to be issued by the Bank of China.
"The Russian Federation does not have to invest right now, as the government's guarantee of the return of funds on a set schedule is enough. And in terms of price the proposal is considerably cheaper than other projects," Bavykina says.
