NATO General Secretary Anders Fogh Rasmussen said in Brussels that he
has finished working on a new strategic plan for of NATO, RIA Novosti
reports.
Rasmussen said that the document was sent to 28 members of NATO. On
October 14 ministers of foreign affairs and defense ministers of NATO
members will exchange views on the project. The new doctrine is
expected to be approved in November in Lisbon.
The new NATO concept will replace the old 1999 version. The document
will reflect the position of NATO members on nuclear and energy
security, missile defense, terrorism and piracy.
NATO presented an analytical report with proposals to the NATO
Council, headed by the former US Secretary of State Madeleine
Albright, in the spring.
