EU expresses concern about persecution of Saakashvili

The European Union has expressed its deep concern about the charges brought against former Georgian president and founder of the opposition United National Movement party,

Azerbaijani news agency Trend reports on Thursday.

 

According to a communiqué issued by EU foreign-policy chief Catherine Ashton, the EU insists that even though the rule of law means that all citizens should be treated as equals by courts and the law-enforcement agencies, no politically-motivated cases should take place.
