Final results of the Afghan presidential polls will be announced before August 25, according to Aymal Faizi, spokesman of President Hamid Karzai, RIA Novosti reports.
Preliminary results were announced on July 7, Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai was declared the winner. His opponent Abdullah Abdullah claimed that the elections were falsified. The election results were planned to be announced on July 24. At the end of the month, recount of 8.1 million ballot papers was halted due to differences of candidates in nullifying votes.
