Russia will not strengthen its military forces in Abkhazia and South
Ossetia, RIA Novosti reports, citing Russian Defense Minister Anatoliy
Serdukov in Washington.
Serdukov said that two military bases in the region are enough. If a
crisis occurs the issue can be solved at a very short term, within 5
days, such as in 2008, or even faster, he said.
The minister expressed concern with the US continuing to arm the
Georgian military. He added that the Russian Defense Ministry is
constantly analysing the capabilities of the Georgian armed forces.
