Law on sanctions passes first reading in Ukraine

 

The Ukrainian parliament passed the law on sanctions in the first reading. The law with 29 measures was given 243 votes, RIA Novosti reports.Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseny Yatsenyuk urged the parliament to pass the law. According to the document, the National Security and Defense Council will be authorized to block assets, limit trade operations, limit or stop transit of resources, flights over the territory of Ukraine, outflow of capital, halt economic and financial obligations, nullify licenses, limit mail service, media activities, close territory, close down joint projects and industrial programs in security and defense sectors, stop culture exchange, scientific cooperation, educational and sports contacts, entertainment programs, reject visits of foreign leaders.
