The ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) has nominated Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu to become Turkey's next prime minister. The new PM has been nominated during the Central Executive Board (MYK) in Ankara.
The newly-elected President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who will take office on August 28, said: "If he's confirmed as chairman ... Ahmet Davutoglu will be the candidate for prime minister of the Republic of Turkey's 62nd government," ABC News reports. He added that “Mr. Davutoglu has shown great sensitivity in compassionate diplomacy and he will surely continue in that direction,” Press TV reports.
