Bård Ivar Svendsen has been appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Norway to Azerbaijan. He will replace Erling Skjønsberg in this position. Earlier, Svendsen worked in the Foreign Ministry of Norway, as well as the embassies in Latvia and Russia. Diplomatic relations between Norway and Azerbaijan were established on June 5, 1992. The Norwegian embassy in Baku was opened in 1998.
