Today, the Armenian National Congress will launch a whole series of rallies and demonstrations after a 5-month break, declared its leader Levon Zubaryan, NewsArmenia reports.
The opposition leader also said that he has no illusions about support from the Council of Europe, but stressed the necessity of public protest to reveal the situation in the country to the whole world. The main objective of this action is to show the world the necessity for pre-term presidential elections.
A report on the Armenian situation will be heard at the conference of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe on October 5th. Representatives of all Armenian political parties will be present at the discussion.
The last rally, on March 1st and 2nd, ended in confrontation between the opposition and the police, with 10 people killed, 200 injured and some 100 people arrested.
