Today the Russian North Caucasus republic of Chechnya celebrates the anniversary of first Chechen president Akhmad Kadyrov's birth.
A number of festive activities are scheduled to be held in the republic.
The Chechen capital of Grozny is also set to host an academic conference devoted to Sufi Islam.
Akhmad Kadyrov served as the President of the Chechen Republic from 5 October 2003, acting as the head of the administration from July 2000.
On 9 May 2004 he was assassinated by Chechen Islamists in Grozny, using a bomb blast during a World War II memorial victory parade.
