Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has left Damascus, giving no
statements to the press after a two-hour visit to Syria. He held
negotiations with Syrian president Bashar Assad on issues of bilateral
partership and the situation in the Middle East, reports ITAR TASS.
There is a divergence in their positions concerning the
Israeli-Palestinian negotiations, which started on September 2nd. US
presidential envoy George Mitchell visited Damascus on Thursday to
propose a bilateral treaty between Syria and Israel.
