Russia doesn't want to get involved in conflicts but is ready to withstand aggression, Putin says

Addressing participants in the Seliger youth forum, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Russia does not want to get involved in a military conflict but is ready to withstand any aggression,

RIA Novosti reports on Friday.

The statement was made amid increased tensions in Eastern Ukraine. Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko accused Russia of actual invasion yesterday, calling for an urgent meeting of the UN Security Council.

The council however failed to adopt a joint statement, even though the US, the UK and Australia backed Ukraine and condemned Russia's  interference in the conflict.
