The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry has told journalists that the U.S State Department's statement on the human rights situation in the country is unfounded,

Foreign Ministry spokesman Elman Abdullayev said the statements made by a representative of the US Department of State on August 27-28 are unfounded and unacceptable.
Such statements, which have a political implication and are aimed at interfering in Azerbaijan's internal affairs to exert political pressure on the country, do not reflect reality, he said on August 29.
