Ukrainian crisis should be resolved through political measures, President Barroso says

The Ukrainian crisis should be resolved through political measures, President of the European Commission José Manuel Barroso said in Brussels today after meeting with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko.

President Barroso said however that the situation was "serious" and "dramatic" and could reach a point of no return. "I believe it's still not yet too late to find a political solution. I believe we should do everything we have in our capacity to avoid an escalation," he added.

President Barroso stressed as well that Ukraine's sovereignty should be respected.
