Former Armenian president marks 60th birthday

Former Armenian president Robert Kocharyan marks his 60th birthday today. On the threshold of this jubilee Kocharyan granted an interview to the Noah's Ark newspaper, during which he noted that he did not rule out a possible return to power.

Now the former president is doing business, surfing, hunting, skiing and reading.

According to Kocharyan, one of best books he read in the recent past was "Why Nations Fail" by Daron Acemoğlu and James Robinson.

Daron Acemoglu is a Turkish-American economist from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. James Robinson is political scientist from Harvard University. Their book applies insights from institutional economics, development economics and economic history to answer why nations develop differently, with some succeeding in the accumulation of power and prosperity, while others fail.

Robert Kocharyan is believed to be an Armenian nationalist, who once said that Armenians have nothing to do with "Transcaucasian Turks".
