Deputy Secretary of the Russian Security Council Mikhail Popov said that the expansion of NATO, the problem of the European missile shield and the situation in Ukraine and around it had forced Russia to reconsider the Military Doctrine adopted in 2014, RIA Novosti reports.
Popov added that a new global missile system, new strategic concepts and new weapons, including hypersonic types, were being developed.
The deputy secretary of the Security Council reminded that the Arab Spring, the armed conflict in Syria and Ukraine were new military threats for Russia. One of the main goals of the Military Doctrine is to solve the import displacement problem of weapons.
Clarification of the Military Doctrine will have been accomplished by the end of the year.
