Early mayoral elections start in Sochi

Early mayoral elections have started in Sochi. The candidates for the post are Igor Vasilyev, the leader of the local CPRF office, Alexey Bochkarev of the LDPR, Incumbent Mayor Anatoly Pakhomov of the United Russia Party, Yevgeny Verbitsky of the Party For Justice and Alexander Zaychenko of the Communists of Russia, Yuga.ru reports.

The main voting will take place on September 14. Early voting will be available until September 13.

People may vote from September 3 to 13 from 4.00pm to 8.00pm on weekdays and from 10.00am to 2.00pm on weekends. Polling stations on September 13, 2014 will be open from 12.00pm to 4.00pm, according to Vadim Belous, the head of the TEC of the Central District of Sochi.

36,000 ballot papers arrived in the city. 20,000 will be used by the City Electoral Commission at polling stations without automatic systems, 16,000 by early voters. A total of 300,000 ballot papers have been printed.
