Georgia and U.S. discuss military cooperation

 

General James Amos, U.S. Marine Corps Commandant, has met today with Georgia's Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili in Tbilisi. They have discussed the prospects for deepening cooperation in the sphere of defense and issues of regional security in the context of the crisis in Ukraine.They have also expressed hope that within the framework of the NATO Summit in Wales Georgia will be offered a package of enhanced cooperation, aimed at raising Georgia's defense capability.It should be noted that U.S. Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel will visit Georgia on September 4-5 following the NATO Wales Summit.General Amos came to Georgia to express gratitude for enduring support in the field of international security operations and emphasize strong partnership between the U.S. Marine Corps and the Armed Forces of Georgia, reports Trend, referring to the statement of U.S. Embassy in Georgia.
