NATO is destroying the system of European security, experts say

U.S. President Obama and UK Prime Minister David Cameron said in an op-ed published on Wednesday night that Russia has torn up the rule book. The article displays the situation in Ukraine as main world security problem. The leaders said that they should use their army to provide a constant military presence in Eastern Europe, to show Russia that they will always abide by obligations concerning collective self-defense in accordance with the fifth clause of the North Atlantic treaty.

This point of view has been confirmed as a result of the meeting, at which Obama, as well as French President Francois Hollande, British Prime Minister David Cameron, Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi, Ukrainian President Petr Poroshenko and German Chancellor Angela Merkel participated. The sanctions against Russia should be hardened.

A member of the Federation Council Committee for International Affairs, Igor Morozov, considers aggravation of anti-Russian hysteria a main aim of the NATO Wales Summit. He also emphasized that NATO is destroying the basic principles of relations with Russia, the basis for which was laid in early 1990s.

Vice dean of the faculty of world economy of the National Research University – Higher School of Economics, Andrey Suzdalzev, said that NATO needs an enemy in order to justify it’s existence
