German Chancellor Angela Merkel noted in a telephone conversation with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko the importance of passing a bill granting certain districts of the Donetsk and the Luhansk oblasts special status on Tuesday.
The sides expressed concerns over violations of the ceasefire regime in Donbass and agreed to continue efforts to settle the situation peacefully.
Poroshenko and Merkel discussed continuation of international negotiations in the Normandy format, trilateral negotiations in Brussels. The German leader praised the decision the EU made on September 12 to support Ukraine.
