Armenian Defense Minister Seyran Ognyan proposed lifting the draft deferment of students. He explained that everyone should have equal conditions and cancelling the deferment would lower corruption risks, News.am reports.
The Armenian government has tried to cancel the draft deferment several times but the public has always spoken out against it. Roben Akopyan, the leader of the Heritage Party, and Tevan Pogosyan, the secretary of the party’s parliamentary faction, have recently composed a bill to end the deferment.
