Spokeswoman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry Marzieh Afkham said that the legitimacy of the U.S.-led coalition against Islamic State (IS) was dubious, ITAR-TASS reports.
She reminded that the coalition was not formed via UN mechanisms. The U.S. plans to use both force and diplomatic means to fight IS.
U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry said at the NATO summit in Wales on September 5 that the foreign and defense ministers of Australia, UK, Germany, Denmark, Italy, Canada, Poland, Turkey and France should join the fight against IS. On September 8, the State Department reported the readiness of over 40 countries to join the coalition.
