Turkey continues path towards EU

Turkish Minister for EU Affairs Volkan Bozkir said today that Turkey will continue reforms to achieve the strategic goal of joining the European Union, Trend reports.

Turkey started the process to gain membership in the EU in 2005. President Recep Tayyip Erdogan expressed regret that the EU continued confusing Turkey about the membership process.

Vice President Bulent Arinc noted that the percentage of Turks wishing for EU membership has dropped from 75% to 20%. Turkey has complied with 65% of the requirements needed to become an EU member.
