Dashnaktsutyun ditches opposition coalition of Armenia

Prosperous Armenia, the Armenian National Congress and Heritage will hold a joint anti-government protest on Freedom Square in Yerevan on October 10, according to secretary of the Prosperous Armenia Party faction Naira Zograbyan, News.am reports.

Dashnaktsutyun, however, will not join the protests or visits to regions of the country. The three parties will inform the public about constitutional reforms and the 12 demands made to the government.

Dashnaktsutyun’s refusal to take part in the protest is the first public sign that the opposition coalition has split. Unlike other parties, Dashnaktsutyun does not want constitutional reforms.

Documents on Armenia joining the EaEU may be signed in Minsk on October 10. Part of the Armenian opposition does not want the country to join the organization.
