Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan admitted that the release of 49 members of the Turkish Consulate General in Iraq’s Mosul was probably a deal in exchange for IS militants. The Turkish consuls were taken hostage in June, ITAR-TASS reports.
Erdogan reminded journalists in New York that Israel had agreed to exchange 1,500 Palestinians for one Israeli hostage.
Ankara had earlier insisted that the release of the consuls was the result of a successful operation by intelligence agents.
