International Turkic PA Conference in Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan has held the international conference for parliamentary
democracy. The conference on parliamentary democracy in the process of
developing inter-governmental ties, organized by the Parliament
Assembly of Turkic speaking countries (TurkPA), was held at the State
University of Baku, Trend reports.


The head of the university, Abel Magerramov, who opened the ceremony
with a speech, noted the importance of defining a single language for
Turkic speaking countries. A language spoken by over 300 million
people is considered an international language by the UN, he said.


In his speech the Secretary General of the Great National Assembly's
Office Sadetdin Kalkan informed the participants of the conference
about the structure and history of the Turkish parliament. He said
that the parliament has friendly ties with the parliaments of 122
countries. The head of the Azerbaijani parliament office Safa Mirzoyev
told participants of the conference about the Azerbaijani parliament,
noting it is a member of 8 international parliamentary organizations.


The Secretary General of TurkPA Ramil Gasanov, Chairman of Kazakh
Senate's Office Berik Aryn and others gave reports, including on
parliamentary democracy and parliamentary history.
