Theauthorized presidential envoy to the North Caucasian Federal
District, Alexander Khloponin, has arrived in Dagestan.
He had meetings with President Magomedsalam Magomedov and the
authorities of the republic. He informed them about the strategy for
developing the NCFD until 2025.
On Tuesday Khloponin had a meeting with members of the Dagestani
commission for the all-Russian census in 2010. Khloponin noted the
importance of the census in providing a better picture of standards of
living.
Khloponin and Magomedov met representatives of all religious
confessions of Dagestan. Khloponin emphasized the importance of
religion in the region. He noted that all the negative aspects of
young people are related to poor spiritual education, which leads to
fake and made-up values.
Khloponin concluded his speech by announcing that a decision had been
made to establish a Social Council at Khloponin’s office in the NCFD,
which will consider religious and educative issues of society and
youth.
Magomedov pointed out the importance of the meeting and its role. He
agreed that the government needs to provide the right direction for
Caucasian youth. Magomedov informed Khloponin about a recent hadj
meeting, attended by religious leaders from all over Russia.
In his speech to religious leaders Magomedov urged them to be more
active in their relations with the staff of local autonomies and state
structures, to talk with people and fight evil together. Religious
leaders then expressed their views on measures that need to be taken
to cope with all the negative tendencies.
Khloponin will have a similar meeting in Derbent.
