26 out of 30 members of the Abkhaz parliament have voted for Alexey Lomia, a candidate proposed by President Raul Khajimba, as the prosecutor general. 3 voted against him, 1 abstained, Apsnypress reports.
Alexey Lomia was born in Sukhumi in 1966. He graduated from the Legal Faculty of Lomonosov MSU. He took part in the Abkhaz-Georgian war of 1992-1993. He headed the Economic Crime Control Directorate of the Abkhaz Interior Ministry in 2003-2011. Lomia became a member of Sukhumi City Council in February 2011, and deputy interior minister in December 2011.
