Russian regional ethnic policy is inefficient

Speaker of the Federation Council of Russia Valentina Matviyenko and Duma Speaker Sergey Naryshkin have declared the national ethnic policy of Russia in regions to be inefficient. They say that executives are neglecting the economic and cultural peculiarities of their regions when implementing the policy, TASS reports.

Moreover, high chances for new sources of interethnic tensions were often provoked by uncontrollable migration into the country. Radical religious organizations have greatly activated in the country in the last 15 years, aggravating ethnic and religious hatred, separatism.

Differences between the socio-economic development of regions contribute to extremism and separatism. They cause chaotic internal migration. The Russian lawmakers called the education system ineffective in ethical development of the new generation.

To improve the situation, Russian lawmakers recommend the government to develop a concept project for state information policy and implement a set of measures to coordinate executives in preventing extremism and interethnic conflicts.
