Poroshenko signs lustration lawUkrainian President Petro Poroshenko has signed the law on lustration passed by the Verkhovna Rada on Sept. 16, Kyiv Post reports.Poroshenko called this day "historical" for Ukraine. According to the law, no politician who had been in power from February 25, 2010 till February 22, 2014 as well as leaders of the communist party before August 19, 1991, can hold offices in the government. The law outlines the legal and organizational framework for the inspection of civil servants and local government staff in order to restore confidence in the government and create conditions for the construction of a new system of government in accordance with European standards, the president's press service reported, Interfax Ukraine reports.
