Russia to respond symmetrically to Ukrainian visa regime

 

Leonid Slutsky, the head of the Russian Duma committee for CIS affairs, Eurasian integration and contacts with compatriots, has commented on Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk’s statement about a visa regime for Russia. Slutsky said that Russia will respond symmetrically and impose its own visa regime on Ukraine then, TASS reports.The Russian lawmaker noted that there were still cultural and humanitarian interactions between the two states. In his words, visas would harm relations even more. He added that the visa initiative was comparable with the idea to build a wall on the Russian-Ukrainian border.Yatsenyuk said on 24 TV yesterday that there was no need for a visa regime, although one could be imposed if necessary.
