Iran denies that envoy to Turkey was summoned

An informed diplomatic source in Tehran has denied reports that Iranian Ambassador to Turkey Alireza Bigdeli has been summoned by the country’s Foreign Ministry, Iran's state-run media outlet Press TV reports on Saturday.

In a Saturday interview with Press TV, the source denied the reports and said Bigdeli’s recent meeting with Turkish officials was part of routine briefings between diplomatic officials of the two countries.

According to a report by Turkey’s Anadolu news agency on Friday, the Turkish Foreign Ministry has called in the Iranian envoy to Ankara over statements from Iranian officials criticizing Ankara’s policies on Syria.
