The police bill has already received 30,000 responses in the Internet,
Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said on Thursday. He added that many
comments were taken into account and put into a report, which will be
published soon.
The president said that special attention was drawn to the article on
the entrance of police into any building. The president explained that
this measure will used in special cases, to rescue people or arrest
criminals.
Medvedev said that the Ministry of Interior Affairs will be more open.
The Ministry of Communications will have a call-center for complaints
about police.
Russia will have a single investigation committee based on the
Investigation Committee of the Prosecution to investigate the majority
of cases.
Today such structures as subdivisions of the Ministry of Interior
Affairs, FSB and Federal Drug Control Service are involved in
investigations.
Medvedev said that all police staff, especially traffic police, need
badges with their names on.
The president said that the bill needs to be passed in the near
future. The final version will be published in the Internet for
discussion. He also said that renaming the Russian police from
'militia' to 'police' will have a positive effect.
