Georgian ex-Defense Minister Bacho Akhalaya has been sentenced to 7 years and 6 months of jail for the case of the murders of three people in a special operation at the Naftlugi Train Station in Tbilisi in January 2006. Akhalaya, the head of the department of correctional punishment back then, was beating the relatives of suspected plotters of a convict getaway. The official denied guilt, Interfax reports.
High-ranking functionaries of the Georgian Interior Ministry Levan Kardava, Georgy Mazmishvili and Megims Kardava have gone to jail over the three murders.
