Georgian president discusses security in South Caucasus with US Secretary of State

Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili had a meeting with US Secretary
of State Hillary Clinton in New York, Trend reports, citing
Saakashvili’s press-service. The meeting was initiated by the US side.


According to the press-service the sides discussed security and
stability in the South Caucasus region. One of the main topics was the
meeting on October 6 in Washington where the sides will discuss a plan
of strategic cooperation.


Saakashvili expressed his initiatives in education, healthcare and the
economy, which may strengthen ties between the USA and Georgia.


Special attention was paid to the Georgian break-away territories. The
Georgian president and government thanked the USA for its support.


Georgian Minister of Foreign Affairs Grigol Vashadze and Georgian
representative to the UN Alexander Lomaya were also at the meeting.
