Chechen authorities deny oppression of uncovered women

The Russian ombudsmen earlier sent a request to the General
Prosecutor's Office to investigate reports of cases of the oppression
of women who do not cover their heads in Chechnya. Several reports
about unknown persons that shot with rubber bullets women without
hijabs in the streets of Grozny have occurred. On the 19th of
September a Women's Day festival took place in Grozny, women were
asked to wear traditional clothes that includes the hijab and the
chador. The Chechen ombudsman Nurdi Nukhajiev denied that some women
were attacked that day in Grozny.
