The USA can be blamed for the economic breach between Turkey and the European Union which will happen if Turkish interests are disregarded during the drafting and signing of the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) between the United States and the EU, Turkish minister for EU Affairs Volkan Bozkir said today.The minister emphasized the fact that in the documents of 1995 establishing the Customs Union between Brussels and Ankara there is no clause forbidding the expansion of agreements concluded between the EU and third countries to Turkey. This means that the USA, having entered into a free trade regime with the European Union, will be able to export any goods to Turkish markets without any customs duties. Bozkir claimed this could lose the country about $3 billion annually.
