Prime minister of Iraqi Kurdistan says air strikes alone cannot stop ISIS

Prime Minister of Iraqi Kurdistan Nechirvan Barzani said in an interview with The Wall Street Journal that Washington's strategy of fighting Islamic State in Iraq and Syria would not destroy the terrorist organization. He thanked U.S. President Barack Obama for bombing ISIS on Kurdish territories.

Barzani believes that the region needs foreign troops and shipments of heavy weapons from the West. In his words, Kurdish Peshmerga militia had not received much-needed heavy weapons in order to fight ISIS on all fronts. German anti-tank missiles are the only exception.
