Russia and US will try to convince Ukrainian leadership to fulfil Geneva Obligations, Lavrov says

Russia and the United States will try to convince the Ukrainian leadership to fulfil their Geneva obligations, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Saturday after a bilateral meeting with US Secretary of State John Kerry on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in Beijing, RIA Novosti reports.

"We have agreed with John Kerry that this problem continues to be, and perhaps is even more relevant today than it was in April, when the immediate initiation of this process was discussed. We will try to convince the Ukrainian leadership to begin to fulfil this obligation," Lavrov said.

On November 5, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko in a telephone conversation with Kerry suggested reviving the Geneva format of dialogue on a peaceful settlement of the situation in Ukraine at the level of foreign ministers.
