Russian and U.S. Presidents Vladimir Putin and Barack Obama have had an informal conversation within the framework of the APEC summit in Beijing and had a photograph of them taken, Interfax reports.
Putin’s mouthpiece Dmitry Peskov said that he had no information about the details of the meeting. Sergey Mikheyev, deputy head of the Editorial Council of Vestnik Kavkaza, the director general of the Institute of Caspian Cooperation, emphasized that the presidents needed to reduce tensions in bilateral relations. The tensions, he noted, were of no benefit to either of them.
Discords of the two states reached a regional level, contacts between Europe and Russia, Mikheyev explains. He believes that the U.S. side is less ready for flexibility and wants to add pressure on Russia. The expert stated that Americans should change their model of influence to a more flexible, harmonic and complex in order to keep leadership, instead of “trying to solve their problems by creating problems for others.”
