German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier said yesterday that representatives of the EU and the EaEU needed to contact each other. Andrey Smirnov, vice president of the Eurasian Cooperation Development Fund, reminded that Russia had always been interested in dialogue. Smirnov believes that the West has shown a more pragmatic attitude towards the alliance of Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Armenia (and Kyrgyzstan joining them on January 1). In his words, Serbia, Vietnam and Venezuela showed interest. The West stopped viewing the EaEU as a revival of the Soviet Union or imperial ambitions, the expert assumed.
