Labour migrants may start buying patents for 4000 rubles in Moscow

The price for labour patents allowing people to work in Moscow and the Moscow Region may rise from 1300 to 4000 rubles a month, according to a bill approved by the Moscow City Council commission on economic policy and finances today. Russia will launch a new system in 2015, freeing migrants from buying visas after purchasing patents, TASS reports.

The patent price is based on the average salary of labour migrants, which amounts to about 44,000 rubles. Maksim Reshetnikov, the head of the department for economic policy and development of Moscow, said that some migrants had been paying their employers higher bribes than the prices of the patents.
