The European Court of Human Rights ruled that the Russian government should pay Makhachkala ex-Mayor Sayid Amirov 15,000 euros in compensation for psychological trauma sustained by being detained in bad health condition and 850 euros in legal fees, Interfax reports.
The ECHR reminded that it had recommended Russia to give Amirov medical treatment due to his leg paralysis after an assassination attempt in 1993. The recommendations had been ignored, the ECHR said.
